What is pin type insulator?
Description: Find full description of pin type insulator here!
1.Pin type insulator definition:
1.Rigid mounting
2.Assembly with a separable pin
Pin insulators are tie top type, and the head should be smooth with top groove and neck groove for assemble with cables or wires.
To avoid radio influence, the pin insulators normally apply semi-conductor glaze on the head and pin hole.

Pin insulator classification:
Voltage: low voltage 400v, medium voltage 10kv, 11kv, 15kv, 22kv, 25kv, 33kv, 35kv
Pin hole type: porcelain screw hole or assemble with zinc sleeve
Spindle type: porcelain screw insulator is normally assembled with lead head or plastic head spindle
Zinc sleeve type insulator normally assembled with large or small head steel spindle
Standard: ANSI C29.5, ANSI C29.6, IEC60383, spindle is as per BS3288-2
Mechanical Strength: 5KN, 10KN, 13KN
Difference between pin type insulators and line post insulators:
Puncture: pin insulator is puncture type, line post is mostly non-puncture type.
Voltage: when voltage is higher, such as 66kv, 132kv, pin type can’t be used because of the production limit. But line post insulators can achieve higher creepage distance.
Protected creepage distance: because the special design of the pin insulator, it can get more protected creepage distance, but line post can’t. sometimes to achieve both advantage, pin post insulators come out.
Spindle: pin insulator assembled with spindle, line post insulator assemble with stud.
